Community Outreach Chair

The Community Outreach Chair works in cooperation with the Area and District P.I. Committees to disseminate information about Alcoholics Anonymous using resources including, but not limited to: Public Service Announcements to radio and television, press releases to newspapers, information booths at health fairs, and distribution of literature to schools, hospitals, and other public agencies. Additionally, he/she shall maintain a list of members of Alcoholics Anonymous who are willing and able to effectively share their experience, strength, and hope with groups outside the Fellowship. He/she shall make arrangements with both the group and the speaker as to place and time of meeting and shall try to ensure that the speaker carefully follows the suggestions as developed by the General Service Conference. In cooperation with the Area Delegate he/she responds to anonymity breaks and disinformation at the public level as well as inquiries from outside agencies concerning the program of Alcoholics Anonymous. (Central Office By-laws, Article V, Section 5, paragraph 5)

The Public Information Chair should have a thorough understanding of the Fellowship and its Traditions.
